Overview
P³ Privacy (“the extension”) is a browser extension that helps you avoid accidentally sharing personal or sensitive information when you submit data on websites. It detects and redacts personally identifiable information (PII) in text fields and file uploads before that data is sent. This policy describes what data the extension uses and where it is stored.
Data we do not collect
The extension does not collect, transmit, or store your personal data on any external server. In particular:
- No form content, chat text, or file contents are sent to us or any third party.
- No analytics, usage statistics, or tracking are performed.
- No account or sign-in is required.
Processing and where it happens
All detection and redaction of PII is performed locally in your browser on your device. The extension runs in the browser’s extension environment and in page context only to access the text you type or paste and to replace it with placeholders. No copy of that text is sent over the network for processing.
Data stored on your device
The extension uses Chrome’s local storage (chrome.storage.local) to persist only the following, on your device:
- Preferences: Whether the extension is enabled globally and per website, which PII types you have chosen to detect (e.g. email, phone, SSN), and an optional list of domains where redaction is disabled (whitelist).
- Redaction history (metadata only): A short list of recent redaction counts per site (e.g. “example.com: 3”) used to show a summary in the extension popup. This does not include the actual text or any PII.
This data remains on your device and is not transmitted to us or anyone else.
Permissions
The extension requests:
- Storage: To save your preferences and the minimal metadata above.
- Access to all websites (host permission): So it can run on any page where you might type or paste PII (e.g. forms, AI chat tools, email). It does not change site behavior beyond redacting detected PII and showing you an Undo/Confirm option.
Your choices
You can disable the extension globally or for specific sites in the extension options. You can choose which categories of PII to detect. You can uninstall the extension at any time; any data stored locally will be removed when the extension is uninstalled.
Changes to this policy
If we change this privacy policy, we will update this page and, where appropriate, the extension or store listing. Continued use of the extension after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
